Electricity
Students were introduced to electricity through an exciting STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) challenge titled Electro Town. In a group of 4, and using only the contents in the basket, students had to make the light bulb light up. Every group was successful multiple times. Please select MY PAA (Practical and Applied Arts) from the drop down menu under Gallery to view pictures.
The two outcomes we are working on are:
EL6.2 Investigate the characteristics and applications of static electric charges, conductors, insulators, switches, and electromagnetism.
EL6.3 Explain and model the properties of simple series and parallel circuits.

We are fortunate to have MY PAA facilitator Mr. Jason Munro in our classroom leading us through 2 investigative activities. We're learning how circuits work by wiring a lamp and assembling an extension cord.
We will wrap up our electricity unit in January with a final project. Project details to come soon!
